Wet rock is fragile, please wait until it is completely dry before you climb. The climbing holds in Fontainebleau are “weakened” (in geological terms) pieces of sandstone. In the case of handholds, the more we pull on them when wet, the more breakable they become.
Be careful, hard brushes (metal or nylon) erodes the sandstone forever.
Let’s not leave any grains of sand on our shoes. The silica in the sand rubs against the silica in the sandstone of the rock. Climbing with sand on your shoes sands the holds, making them polished and slippery. This phenomenon is amplified when conditions are wet. You should always have a mat or rag with you.
